About this deal

The mystery presented by the murals in the nearby holy temples is intriguing, and I'm a little scared to see where it goes. My favourite things about this volume: Hua Cheng being his gremlin self, Quan Yizhen and Yin Yu's backstory, Quan Yizhen confirmed neurodivergent, the Rain Master's epic entrance, the very brief fengqing moment at the beginning, Qi Rong trying to be a good dad, and of course my favourite, Pei Ming being left to die by the others several times.

She had more freedom to indulge in her interests than in heaven, where she was essentially made to run around doing errands. Seeing Pei Ming encounter so many unfortunate situations along the way was funny as hell, and I enjoyed learning more about the histories of the other heavenly officials. He's just so hilarious (that doesn't mean I forgive him for being misogynistic) and his addition to this expedition was a nice surprise. I loved how this story took almost all the batshit things from the previous volumes and turn it up a hundred! I know I shouldn’t compare but, if you have read Mo Dao Zu Shi (Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation), we both know the author is more than capable of making the best character arcs (Lan Wanji’s)-and using less volumes for that. There are mountain spirits, the mystery of the ancient Kingdom of Wyuong and it’s crown prince, a crown prince whose story seems step in step with Xie Lian’s own fate, and mysterious rumblings of what befell that lost prince. The Seven Seas English-language edition will include covers from 日出的小太陽 (tai3_3), and exclusive, all-new interior illustrations from ZeldaCW. My name is Jay and I started this blog because I love to read and wanted a place to share my thoughts with other readers and lovers of romance. This epic historical fantasy about a prince and the mysterious man by his side is now officially in English, for the very first time! Volume four was my favorite so far, so I wasn’t expecting to struggle as much as I did to finish this one.

And I've mentioned before in reviews of the previous volumes that the romance element between them wasn't really working for me, and I think as of now it's entirely dead. Overall, I felt the author added this volume to drag out the story more than it was necessary, nothing really stood up for me and I’m starting to see this may not be for me after all.i’m definitely not normal because the amount of times i had to do the good old ‘slapping a hand over my mouth because hua cheng and xie lian ran around saying the most blatantly obvious confessions of love’ so many times. On top of that, I’m getting tired of seeing Hua Cheng and Xie Lian dancing around each other without actually having any kind of development. In the first book in the series, Banyue and Pei Xiu — the now mortal descendant of the martial god Pei Ming — found themselves in Mount Tonglu, and in this book we learn more about Pei Ming himself. But with the wait times in between, I'm just not really finding myself anticipating future releases for this story anymore. A new ghost king isn’t anything to Hua Cheng, but if Xie Lian wants to take a walk and see Mount Tonglu, Hua Cheng will be right there with him to make certain every ghost he comes across bows in proper obeisance.

I could feel the waves of anxiety rolling off the chapters of Yin Yu and Quan Yizhen's past and Xie Lian's trauma regarding the human face disease. If it wasn’t enough, I’m getting tired of following the shenanigans and mysteries behind secondary characters that I’ve stopped to care about. His heavenly powers are weakened near the cursed mountain, but he has one trump card on his side--Hua Cheng, who has survived Mount Tonglu before. He may claim not to be a gossip, but he does love listening to Hua Cheng spill the secrets and stories of everyone else.As they struggle against murderous ghosts and the mountain's strange defenses, Hua Cheng's knowledge of the area may prove invaluable. With losing worshippers and Quan Yizhen outshining him and unintentionally offending him, it was bound for Yin Yu to snap. Hua Cheng, with his charm and confidence, used to be my major crush out of all the MXTX’s heroes yet, the more I read, the flatter he seems.

On top of that, we learn a lot of backstories for a lot of the minor side characters, and maybe this stuff will be important later, but it's largely pointless now. are you a normal person or do you roll around your bed kicking the air punching a pillow and giggling because HUALIAN IS SO FLIPPING CUTE AND ADORABLE?He greatly admired Yin Yu and would’ve never said anything offensive had he known it would be taken that way. I understand the both of them completely and neither of them did anything wrong, which is why it was so upsetting.
